Let me be your guide. I believe in your ability to give birth, even if you're not quite there yet—that's why I'm here for you! This class is designed to support you through every step of preparing for your new bundle of joy. Whether you're planning a hospital, home, or birth center delivery, this is a judgment-free space where your voice, fears, and thoughts are heard. I use hands-on activities and demonstrations to help you retain the information. In this course, you'll learn:

• How to prepare your mind, body, and environment during pregnancy

• The meaning of informed consent

• How to advocate for yourself

• Overcoming fear

• The normal, natural process of labor and birth, and the health-care practices that support it

• Changes during late pregnancy and the stages of labor

• How to recognize the beginning of labor

• A variety of coping strategies for managing pain in labor

• The importance of labor support

• Movement and positioning during labor and birth

• Medical interventions: their indications, risks, and alternatives

• How to develop a birth plan

• Breastfeeding

It is recommended the first date of class takes place no later than 34 weeks of pregnancy. Most recommendations you may see are that the first class should be no earlier than 27 weeks of pregnancy BUT I assure you even if you decide to take the Birth Guidance 4 - Week series earlier in your pregnancy, Birth Guidance classes are memorable and you don't go home empty handed! That is what makes a Birth Guidance class unique! Having a workbook to keep as well as access to the online student portal ensures you will not forget what you learned in class regardless of how early you decided to take this series!
